International conference: “Developing Vietnam’s economy and trade in the context of protectionism”

On 25th September 2020, Thuongmai University, College of Economics - Huế University, and Sofia University (Bulgary) cohosted the International conference titled “Developing Vietnam’s economy and trade in the context of protectionism” at Thuongmai University.
International conference: “Developing Vietnam’s economy and trade in the context of protectionism”
The conference consisted of a general session at the Conference Room, F Building and discussion sessions at Conference Room No. 1, F Building and Meeting Room No. 1, I Building, Thuongmai University with the participation of policy makers, business administrators, researchers, and the media.
During the 2 sessions, the participants listened to the introduction report and 8 discussion reports and the opinions shared directly by scientists and policy makers. The reports showed a variety in the research areas with renovated approaches and the reporters’ passion and sense of learning and researching.

The conference focused on the two main contents as following:

Firstly, the conference collected and systematized theories on trade protectionism from the approaches and impacts to the tools such as tariff, hygiene, technical barriers, anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, etc. Secondly, the researchers made an in-depth analysis of the nature of new generation FTAs including non-trade contents such as labour, the environment, sustainable development commitment, good management, etc. over a range of areas such as investment, competition, public spending, e-commerce, SME development encouragement, and technical support for developing countries.

The conference titled “Developing Vietnam’s economy and trade in the context of protectionism” ended successfully, which is significant in both theory and practice. It is a scientific forum for business administrators, policy makers, businessmen, researchers, and lecturers of universities to discuss and exchange opinions and experience in the impacts of trade protectionism on the organization and administration in macroeconomic management as well as the management of organizations and businesses for the target of Vietnam’s sustainable economic and trade development.
